Better read than dead

Remember my Sunday Times column The Whipping Boy? Of course you do. Did you ever buy the book of the same name? Of course you didn’t. But now you can. It’s one of six of my books currently available as downloads. You’ll find the books under Contraband.

    Hi Ben

I bought three of your books. My “friends” “borrowed” it – permanently. You inscribed On The Run for me. It made my day :). When I purchase The Whipping Boy – I hope I will keep this book a secret. Please inscribe it for me again. Regards ….. SHARON

Never lend your books to anyone, Sharon, least of all friends. I’ve lost thousands that way over the years. It’s going to be difficult to inscribe your copy of The Whipping Boy because it’s, er, an ebook. You’ll be downloading it and reading it on your computer or phone. But if you ever find a hard copy, I’ll be happy to. Thanks for buying it, anyway.

    Ben,
I bought two of your books Whipping Boy and Still On the Run from those thugs at Non-Exclusive Books and enjoyed them thoroughly (and lost half my pension in the process). I’m mortified that you are practically giving them away for R50!!! Have they lost that much value?

    1. Ben Trovato says:

Thing is, Nkululeko, we live in a country where only 14% of the population buys books. I like to think that if books were cheaper, more people would buy them. Also, since I’m selling them as ebooks, I don’t have to cover printing, distribution and other costs. Thanks for buying those two!
